Aratok had a tight timeframe to get certified to the NDIS Practice Standards. They chose to work with SAI Global Assurance because they know we’re a partner they can trust.
For Lyndell Jennison, the NDIS means a chance for everyone with a disability to have an equal opportunity, but every opportunity must be done right.
Lyndell is the Coordinator of Supports at Aratok – a NDIS-certified organisation based in Kotara, NSW, which focuses its services on customers with a disability around the Hunter region. Aratok helps NDIS participants who have Support Coordination in their NDIS Plan to make the most of their NDIS funds. Aratok can determine how their funds can be spent and can connect them with disability providers that they need.
Starting her business without going through the right processes was not something Lyndell wanted to do. Knowing she had to get audited to become a certified NDIS provider, she called on the help of SAI Global Assurance in July 2018 when Aratok was established to start the auditing process. The organisation was fully certified and registered with the NDIS by December that same year.
When advising the NDIS for intent to register, there is a certain amount of time to complete the audit stage. With Aratok being a new business, Lyndell had a deadline of 12 months from the date she gave her intention.
I’m very big on people doing the right thing and the services our business provides needs to have ticked all the boxes. It’s not a question for us to have to go through a disability audit and get certified. It’s also important for the greater good because it’s an effective way to crack down on businesses, she said.
