Learn how verification to the NDIS Practice Standards helped TJS extend their service offerings, creating market opportunity.
Janet Tobin has been a qualified bookkeeper for over 20 years but started her own business, TJS Bookkeeping Services, in 2016 in Helensburgh, Northern Wollongong. With her experience in bookkeeping, Janet wanted to extend her services by being a plan manager – someone who is responsible for the budget of NDIS participants from paying their invoices to guiding them and helping them understand their finances.
Given that a plan manager must have a bookkeeping or accounting background, Janet was qualified to register TJS Bookkeeping Services as an NDIS provider. Janet commenced a verification audit in October 2018 and was approved by January this year. She says that going through a disability auditing and verification process was mandatory, as plan management falls under one of the service provider groups that must be registered.
